Summer is back after a chillingly cold June and already this mildly warm weather makes me long for a proper thunderstorm to freshen things up a bit, but there's no sign of such relief.
I've been thinking about a book today, A Girl in Winter, by Philip Larkin, which isn't entirely about winter. It was a good while ago that I read it but going through my collection of vintage photos brought back memories of it. Let's think of this as my summer reading recommendation to you all (that is, if you've already read Thousand Cranes by Yasunari Kawabata - if you haven't, you should read it now).
