Yesterday I didn't know whether I should or shouldn't write about it. I decided to write since the lack of open discussion was also a reason for it to happen. Yesterday a young man shot eight people and himself to death. This happened where I lived until the age of 17, in my former school. Another sad side of the story is that it wasn't a surprise that something like that happened in there. It could've happened anywhere for that matter. I think that the atmosphere in Finnish schools is rarely open to discussion about mental issues. There's a lot talk in general, but when it comes down to individuals, no one is encouraged to talk about the trouble they're going through, and it may be the worst possible thing to do if express your concern about somebody else's mental state. I'm not sure if even this tragedy is enough to change that in any way. I'm not saying this could've been prevented. I'm saying silence isn't golden.
Today is a new day, but it seems more quiet.
Thank you all for your kind words and interest in my Etsy shop.
