Small Coptic Bound Guest Book Journal with Light Sand Linen and Floral Vintage Lace
Small Coptic Bound Guest Book Journal with Light Sand Linen and Floral Vintage Lace
€70.00
A stylish and minimalistic handbound book perfect for use as a journal or as a guest book.
This book was made in the Coptic fashion which allows the book to lie open perfectly flat. Left-handed writers love this feature but I'm happy to take the risk and claim everyone else will love it too. It's simply a pleasure to write or draw in a book that causes minimum hassle. You don't need to use your other hand to keep the spread open, it'll stay open where you want to once you've picked your spot. This is great if you want to use this book as a guest book, too, as your guests won't have to look for the appropriate place to sign - just leave it open looking all inviting and it'll be a breeze to get your guests to sign.
This book is covered with light sand colored European linen and the front cover is embellished with a lovely strip of vintage lace. The pages are bound together with waxed linen thread, and the paper suits all dry media.
- 15,1x14,3x1,9cm / 5.9"x5.6"x0.7"
- 96 pages of off-white drawing paper (acid free, 90gsm)
- all Paperiaarre items arrive beautifully wrapped ready for gifting or treating yourself to something special!
This type of binding was first used by early Christians, the Copts (hence the name of the binding), in the first centuries AD. It is the first known codex style binding, a book that consists of folded sheets of paper bound together instead of, for example, simple loose sheets of paper (or papyrus or parchment) rolled into a scroll. This binding technique isn’t just a quirky old fashioned way of making books since many modern bookbinding machines imitate this ingenious way of linking pages together, too. This is a wonderful piece of living history.
Handmade with great attention to detail by a master bookbinder
