This is a one of a kind book I made for you, or for that special person you know would love to have it. This book has the special feature of opening completely flat, so it’s easy to write or draw on regardless of what page you’re on. It’s much more relaxing to use a book that doesn’t try to shut you out like some basic store-bought notebook that has very little character to begin with. This here is not just unique, it’s also durable and made with the precision of a master bookbinder.

I've embedded a small collage featuring a vintage photo of a trio of youngsters into the front cover, and it's being protected by a glass microscope slide held in place with linen thread stitching.

- 160 pages of recycled brown kraft 100gsm paper suitable for writing and sketching (even just plain pencil works great!)
- sewn with waxed natural linen thread, inside covers are lined with gray Canson Mi-Teintes paper


This type of binding was first used by early Christians, the Copts (hence the name of the style), in the first centuries AD. It is the first known codex style binding, a book that consists of folded sheets of paper bound together instead of, for example, simple loose sheets or paper (or papyrus or parchment) rolled into a scroll. This binding technique isn’t just a quirky old way of making books – many modern bookbinding machines imitate this ingenious way of linking pages together – but a wonderful piece of living history.
