Your narcoleptic artist is back

May 2, 2008

Things weren't as bad as you may have thought: I was a bit under the weather, suffering from artistic insecurities and utter boredom. The flu is mostly gone, but my pollen allergy has successfully kept me sneezing. I feel pretty ridiculous right now: my allergy drugs have weird side effects. Slight sleepiness isn't that slight in my opinion as I've fallen asleep while washing my hands. It's like I'm narcoleptic, I fall asleep in the middle of making things, sitting and standing. I haven't fallen asleep while walking yet. I'm trying to see a doctor tomorrow to get my medication changed. I guess you'll have to bear with me and my weirdness for a while.

Wednesday was vappuaatto, Walpurgis Night, and we went to see fireworks and walked through the amusement park. I didn't wear my student cap and I skipped the use of alcoholic beverages too, it was a very un-Finnish vappu-behavior. May Day was spent making and eating falafel, and after that, sleeping. And sleeping.

Today I finally finished something. A linen brooch, that was supposed to be something completely different. Fever and gocco don't work together that well, so I was left with patches of natural linen printed with white only. I added some French knots and finished the edge with running stitch, but this one is just a prototype, I have no idea what I should do with the rest of the patches.

Approx. 1.8"x2" (4,5x5cm)
In everything else Tags creativity, gocco, linen, sewing, spring

Big Paperiaarre shop update tomorrow/Monday 5 PM Helsinki time (UTC+3)!

I’ve made a big stack of large A5-size journals as well as tiny A7-pocket notebooks. There’ll be a small handful of A6/postcard size notebooks, too. All covered with
Just published my fifth poetry book, so now there's finally more time for bookbinding. I hope to have all these and more available in the Paperiaarre shop by the end of the week.

Fresh out of the press. It's incredibly satisfying to hold a big stack of notebooks you just finished.

These beauties will be available at @galleriakuvitus later this month ❤️
Rummaging through my vintage kimono pieces today. A selection of my notebooks will be for sale locally later this year, so I'm trying stock up whilst also meeting my poetry book deadlines. Sometimes the two arts intertwine perfectly and I find a nice

First days of bookbinding since my surgery. Absolutely loving it, of course.
The Paperiaarre shop is open again! I've now returned from the incredibly lush Edinburgh where I had the privilege to stay at a wonderful writing recidency. So many long walks, big hills, old kirkyards, and vinegary treats!

Hello you, just a quick note that I'm spending May in Edinburgh at a writing recidency, so the Paperiaarre shop will be closed from April 30th. Any orders placed by Wednesday afternoon will be shipped as usual ❤️❤️❤️
